What is Laminate Flooring?
Realistic visuals can’t be distinguished from hardwood
Laminate flooring is extremely durable because of its multi-layer construction. It is resistant to scratch, fade, and is easy to clean. Laminate flooring is being used almost everywhere; in retail stores, cafes, gyms, badminton and squash courts, and even in bowling alleys, but not recommended for areas with high moisture.

Laminate Flooring Construction
It is not wood, but several layers of synthetic materials that are pressed together into long planks.
-
Balancing Layer: The bottom surface of the laminate plank helps to resists moisture and provide stability during installation.
-
Core Layer: This layer makes up the bulk of the laminate flooring plank thickness which made of compressed wood fibers mixed with a resin.
-
Pattern Layer: It is printed picture that gives laminate flooring it’s design. It can be an image of wood, marble, stone; anything you like.
-
Wear Layer: A very hard, clear protective layer at the surface of the laminate plank to protect it from scratches, damage and wear and tear. This is the layer that you step on, and put your furniture on.

The Benefits of Laminate Flooring

It is not difficult to understand why laminate flooring is gaining popularity.
-
Realistic wood looks: Laminate floor planks often have some surface detail to further mimic a natural hardwood look and can have the look and feel of a embossed wood.
-
Long Lasting: Protected with superior protective overlays on both sides (top and bottom) of the floorboard, normal scratches resistant, impact resistant and stain resistant.
-
Water Resistant: The core structure is compressed under high temperature and pressure, resistant to water damage. If something spill on the laminate floor, wipe up the spill quickly to prevent longstanding damage.
-
Easy to clean and maintain: Simply mop or sweep up messes as needed. No floor waxing is ever necessary.

All laminate floors should be used alongside a suitable sound reducing underlay as this makes a huge difference, making the floor sound more natural and helping to deaden the sound of footsteps.
